Meets SEOULISTA

글을 쓴다는 것은 물건을 만드는 일과 같습니다. 존재하지 않는
것을 자신의 상상력에 의존해 결국 외형이 있는 것으로 만들어내는
작업은 쉽지 않은 일입니다. 이번 호에서 만난 두 명의 서울리스타는
무에서 유를 창조하는 일을 즐기는 두 명의 아티스트입니다.
장편소설 <피프티 피플>로 독특한 필력을 인정받은 정세랑은 글을
쓰는 일은 놀이와 같이 즐거운 일상이라 말합니다. 유리공예가로
독보적인 위치를 차지하고 있는 양유완은 남들이 가지 않은 길을

걷는 덕분에 두려움보다는 탐험가로서의 기쁨이 앞선다고 합니다.
자신이 뛰어든 분야에 대한 무한한 애착을 지닌 아티스트의 도전
에너지가 이 여름의 서울을 더욱 뜨겁게 달굽니다.

Writing is like creating an object. It is not easy to rely on your
imagination to create something that does not exist. The two
Seoulistas we meet are artists who enjoy creating something
from nothing. Yang Yoowan, an unrivaled glass artist, says
that walking a lonely path brings her an explorer-like joy
rather than fear. Jung Serang, renowned for her unique
writing style portrayed in <Fifty People>, says that writing is
a fun playtime for her. The two artists have much affection
for their fields, and their energy heats up Seoul’s summer
even more.
