Hyo Sik Cho I am delighted about the Wooyang Museum of Contemporary Art(WMOCA)’s hosting
of “Jean Jullien: Still, There,” an exhibition on Jean Jullien, a French artist who is active
Director,
worldwide.
Wooyang Museum
of Contemporary Art
The exhibition features new works that were not part of the exhibition, “Jean
Jullien: Then, There,” that was held at DDP and spotlights the sculptures of Nico
Jullien, the artist’s brother, with whom he regularly exchanges inspiration. We
designed the entrance and indoor spaces to look like one massive artwork, which we
hope will make the exhibition’s content more enjoyable and easier to absorb. I hope
that visitors find something in Jullien’s art, which gives a unique, witty voice to social
issues in a diary entry-like style, that resonates with them and experience what only an
unconventional artistic world can offer.
By giving artists working in Korea or overseas opportunities to amplify the artistic
values to which they aspire and creating opportunities to bring various genres of art to
the general public, the WMOCA has strived to support the advancement of the arts and
culture in Gyeongju.
Now that we are racing toward the end of the tunnel that was the COVID- pandemic,
I would like this exhibition to be a watershed moment for the museum’s efforts to encom-
pass a broader spectrum of art genres and, thereby, become a place where visitors find
inspiration that energizes their daily lives.
